Anyone who follows a healthy lifestyle and prefer to keep their cholesterol in check will have always have oats available on their kitchen shelf.
Oats are incredibly nutritious, it is rich in antioxidants, high source of fibre. They keep your cholesterol in control and have many more health benefits, and yes they keep you full for a long duration.

Additionally, I use jaggery instead of sugar in almost all my recipes as it is a much healthier option. Jaggery too has innumerable health benefits. Check out the health benefits of jaggery in the image below.

This recipe is one of my favourite to fulfill my sweet craving but a tad bit healthier than regular sweets. Hope you all like it! Happy eating.
Healthy Oats Payasam(Kheer)
Ingredients
Oats - half cup
Powdered Jaggery - half cup ( increase or decrease as per taste)
Coconut milk 1 cup
Water half cup
Cardamom powder a pinch
Ghee half spoon
Cashew, raisins and badam. 2 each chopped or cut into two
Dry coconut - cut into pieces
Method.
1. Take a heavy bottom vessel and cook the oats with water just enough for oats to cook. Do not make it to thick like a paste. It must be in a running consistency, but not too watery either.
2. Once the oats is cooked include the jaggery powder to the boiling oats.
3. Furthermore, once jaggery melts and blended well with oats, add the coconut milk and simmer and cook for not more than 2 to 3 min.
4. Add a pinch of cardamom powder mix well and turn off the stove.
5. In a small pan, add half teaspoon ghee and sauté the nuts and raisins along with chopped dry coconut.
6. Add the sautéed nuts and coconut pieces to the payasam.
Enjoy the yummy healthy oats payasam.
NOTE:
* Quantity of jaggery can be increased or decreased as per your taste.
* The same recipe can be done using broken wheat or dahlia.
* coconut milk can be replaced with regular full fat milk.
* Lastly, adding dry coconut pieces is a choice. But it surely gives you the crunch while eating.
* This sweet can be consumed either hot or cold.
